    This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 1-Turtle Mountain Agency in Belcourt, North Dakota. The mission of the Office of Justice Services is to uphold the constitutional sovereignty and customs of Tribes while protecting the rights of the people; protect life and property; ensure employment suitability; and promote and preserve peace within Indian country. This includes the enforcement of major Federal crimes and state crimes under Federal statute and Tribal laws.

    • Maintains law and order within the area of assignments by patrolling in a patrol vehicle, investigating suspicious situations, and taking action as appropriate.
    • Performs such assignments as working radar on busy highways, participating in night surveillance in high crime areas, and participating in traffic and crowd control activities.

    GL-05: To qualify at the GL-05 level you must meet ONE of the following criteria:

    B. Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study at an accredited school leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. Transcripts must be submitted by the closing date.
    NOTE: Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience or 6 months of general experience.

    GL-06: One year of specialized experience at the next lower level independently applying investigative procedures to detect and resolve crimes requiring extensive research, including interviewing, planning, observing, conducting stakeout operations, and executing investigations which result in the arrests of suspects.
