MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Enlisted, Not Less Than SrA/E-4, Not to Exceed MSgt/E-7

NOMINATING OFFICIAL: CMSgt Archie Goins, Security Officer

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an Excepted (Dual Status Military Technician) position that requires active membership in a compatible skill in the Arkansas Air National Guard. Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard and be assigned to the 188th WG in a compatible military position in Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 3P0X1. Must become compatible in the AFSC within 12 months of appointment. Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (Grade Inversion). Selectee may be subject to uncommon duties, rotational shift assignments and overtime duties.

SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 12 months of the following:

Experience performing practical security force (SF) activities in direct support of the military weapon systems and physical security; law and order; or area security operations.

Experience in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, preserving the peace, and protecting life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations.

Experience in protecting federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction.

Experiences in responding to disaster and relief operations and participates in contingencies.

PLACEMENT FACTORS: Applicants should demonstrate through prior experience in the following: (1) Knowledge of the full range of security forces, and police and law enforcement services. (2) Knowledge of investigative techniques to adequately handle complaints and incidents. (3) Knowledge of security and security forces requirements, procedures, and tactics to support installation physical security and contingency operations. (4) Knowledge of firearms and tactics utilized in emergency situations. (5) Knowledge of alarm and electronic monitoring system operations and how to interpret signals and other outputs. (6) Ability to use firearms in emergency situations. (7) Completion of appropriate technical school/CDC courses.

DUTIES: Performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Apprehends and detains violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turns them over to the Federal or civil police or other law enforcement officers for arrest and/or posting of collateral. Serves as a Security Forces Dispatcher for the installation. Dispatches personnel and equipment to meet emergency situations. Monitors the locations of all posts, alarm systems, closed circuit television systems and telephone/radio networks. Performs the full range of Base Entry Controller and commercial vehicle inspection duties. Ensures individuals requesting access to the installation have the proper identification credentials before entering. Conducts random vehicle searches at the privately owned vehicle (POV) gates and conducts thorough searches of all vehicles at commercial gate. Performs the full range of duties for defending protection level resources (Patrol, Security Response Team (I-SRT & E-SRT). Defends installation personnel, equipment, and resources from hostile ground attack. Participates in tactical defense postures as a member of a quick reaction force to deny infiltration or attack. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position with the Arkansas National Guard is a Title 32 USC 709 position, not Title 5, and as such has different Reduction In Force (RIF) criteria, certain grade and promotion limitations, and no Veterans Preference. Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer of Civilian Pay is required as a condition of employment/promotion/reassignment. Initial in-processing of new employees will include enrollment procedures. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is not authorized.
